I am a victim sexual of abuse by a priest. I was very much involved in trying to get laws passed on lifting the Statue of Limitations in Colorado for sexual crimes against children. Many people don’t realize how childhood sexual abuse differs from other rape-type situations. The perpetrator of child sexual crimes typically grooms his victims from gifts to trips. So, to a child, this a very confusing to what is going on rather than just getting attacked.
It’s hard enough for an adult to admit a rape but it is almost impossible for a child admit to being molested. This problem regarding the sexual crimes against children will never go away with the Catholic Church unless laws are changed. The Church officials will never admit they have a problem because they do not want to look bad to the public.
So I have to ask you, what is a Child’s soul worth? For those of you who can’t admit this happens, you had better believe this happens. I’m living proof. To Church officials, this all about the money. The last figure I heard was that the Church has paid out four billion dollars for sexual assaults against children by Catholic clergy and members of Catholic religious orders. What other entity can afford to pay that much money and not be out of business? As long as all these blind followers keep giving money the Church will just keep paying out rather than doing something about it.
